How to run a giveaway contest to generate leads on WordPress with RafflePress

Want to attract more traffic and subscribers to your WordPress site? The fastest way to achieve that is to run a giveaway. A giveaway with the right tool and correct incentive can help you reach out to a larger audience, grow your social media followers, and build your mailing list.

Today we are going to see how you can use RafflePress to run a giveaway contest to generate more leads on your WordPress site.

Why should you run a giveaway/contest?

Before we start with setting up the RafflePress plugin and create a giveaway, let’s discuss why should you run a giveaway/contest on your site in the first place?

The ultimate goal of any business is to generate more leads, get more subscribers, boost traffic, or sales of a product or service on your website.

With a well planned and properly executed giveaway, you can achieve the following:

  • Get more leads and new customers
  • Grow your mailing list
  • Get more traffic to your site
  • Boost social media followers
  • Bump up user engagement on your site
  • Grow your business and brand awareness
  • Increase sales of your products and services

A giveaway/contest can help you target multiple channels in one go with the ability to control the user experience.

Generally, you’d run a contest on one social media platform (for example, Facebook) which would only help you get more likes and followers on your Facebook page.

If you run a giveaway on your WordPress site, you can target multiple social media channels like Facebook, Intsagram, and Twitter, get more email subscribers, promote a product or service you offer and also get more YouTube subscribers; all this by running a single giveway contest!

Now that we know why should you run a giveaway, let’s talk the goals for a giveaway/contest and what you should try to achieve with each campaign.

Goals for your giveaway campaign

It is always a good idea to jot what you are hoping to accomplish from a giveaway or contest campaign. If you have clear targets, it would help you design an effective giveaway campaign to achieve those goals. Here are some common goals that businesses try to achieve with effective giveaway campaigns:

  • Boost sales
  • Acquire more email subscribers and leads
  • Increase social media followers
  • Increase website traffic
  • Promote a product, service, or an event

Choosing a suitable prize for the winners

A prize of a giveaway is what motivates your users to participate in the giveaway contest. You’d ideally choose a prize (or multiple prizes) based on your niche and target audience.

For example, if you sell premium WordPress plugins and themes, then you’d offer free yearly/lifetime licenses to these products as prizes.

If you run a restaurant, you’d offer discounted or free meal coupons to your participants.

Rule of the thumb – it doesn’t have to be an expensive prize. The prize has to be useful for your target audience, must be related to your business, and most important it has to be thoughtful.

After you are clear on the prize, it’s time to set up a giveaway on your WordPress site.
